Were the changes of Neolithic the greatest advancement in human history, or the worst mistake that humans have ever made?

Some time during fortieth century before our era, there was a group of nomad, who were forced by nature to hoist their young upon their back and started the long journey to search of the sun. Under the threat of glacial period, those people were forced to choose between quick thinking and quick dying. They worshiped the God and held religious ceremony to pray for good hunt. In order to build the structure for religion use, they have to learn to live in a place for long time. That was the time one of the greatest advancement in human history was made—the Neolithic Revolution.

Although people suffered from the illness that domestication of animal came with, the invention of agriculture led to the biggest progress Neolithic people ever made—the permanent settlement. Instead of tracing the animal for food, they learned to harvest crops, which means even they were threatened by the severe weather, they still had preserved food to support their life. It indicated that people relied less on nature, but more on human labor. The ending of long exhausting migrate and having a permanent residence made people have more time for productive labor.  With the rise of the living standard, more tools were required. They learned how to sharpen stones into axes and how to make hammers. They found that the clay could be made into bowls and jars that could preserve food. Living in a permanent place led to the beginning of metallurgy and technology.

Also the birth of aesthetics and development of religion were significant features of Neolithic Age, which made great contribution to the later society. Much Neolithic pottery was decorated with geometric designs. People loved to formed pottery into different shapes, basically they got the idea from nature. Not only in aesthetics, their idea in religion also changed. They started to worship totems of plants and animals that connected to their daily life. They built kind of temples to worshipped forces of nature like sun and storm, something they can’t explain. Those ideas of religion had influenced later generation greatly.

Although Neolithic revolution came with some negative impact like the initiate of hierarchy, it played a significant role in human history and made the great progress that nobody can deny.
