Positive Effects of the Neolithic Revolution

Was the Neolithic Revolution the most important advancement or the worst mistake in human history?

Eons ago, primitive man brought about a gigantic revolution which revolutionized his life forever. Before this time humans lived in nomadic groups of 25-30, roaming around to collect food. After hundreds of years of experimentation, those primitive humans learned how to grow plants in order to get food. This change deeply impacted people's lives in both positive and negative ways. Further analysis into this event sheds light on whether it was overall positive or negative.

The Neolithic Revolution was beneficial to mankind in the long term. Food and shelter were major problems in the Paleolithic Age. Survival was harsh and arduous, requiring lots of time, knowledge, and physical ability. Such problems stopped humanity from developing anything more than primitive jewelry. Agriculture and the development of City States led to an increase in pollution. People began to develop crafts and specialized skills without having to worry about food or protection. People traded more with other nations and expanded their knowledge. Advancement and exploration of new fields skyrocketed during this era. Many landmarking achievements of the time overshadowed the negative effects of diseases from domestication and agricultural stress.

Modern day life and advancements are all derived from the Neolithic Revolution. Finer skills of medicine and science have been developing from the Neolithic Age. Today we can transfer organs, prevent numerous diseases, and make precision technology to do tasks that are impossible by hand. Life expectancy rose by a factor of three thanks to advancements in these fields. Art, literature, culture and history have all branched out from the primitive ideas of the past. Today humanity stands tall and thrives because of the improvements and advancements brought about by the Neolithic Revolution.
